A picture speaks 1,000 words and a word can inspire 1,000 pictures.
Remember.

I will never be bored. I will surely never be bored as a passenger in city traffic. On a ride with friends the other day we got stuck in some traffic and our driver was bordering on a full blown anxiety attack getting a little cranky about our gridlocked situation. I took the opportunity to start taking pictures that would amuse her.
Our other passenger was fairly convinced that we must have been stopped near a methadone clinic by the looks of the parade of people that passed by our windshield. Quite disturbing.
I loved this window. It was up on the second or third floor so it was hard to get a clear shot. But you can almost see the romance and heat between these two.
I know, now you all want to take me on a road trip.

I am pretty sure this stuff gets put in front of me intentionally. Perhaps because I have a keen sensitivity to it and pay attention. I live so much of my life – both personal and professional – elbow deep in the details. That is probably why I cannot help but see this stuff. This one was actually spotted from the back seat by my daughter. The fact that my kids get this stuff and notice them is my single greatest parenting achievement (a close second is the fact that they love a good bathroom joke).
I have written about the wisdom of the universe before. In love, in art – more than once – and of course in regards to plumbing and feminine hygiene products. As you all know, that last one is something that has plagued the masses for decades.
This one? It is actually a billboard! We passed it on the way home from Brooklyn the other night. I don’t even remember where it was, but I will take a guess and say somewhere on the BQE (and no worries, I was not driving).
So here is the thing – how many tens of thousands of people pass this sign every day? This is a big commuter corridor, after all. It is going east so I am going to say most people see it on their way home at the end of the day. Does anyone actually SEE it? Do they read it and think, hmmmm, what DO I wish? What do I wish so much that someone would bet on it? And based on the tense of the sentence, what do I wish I had done in the past? Maybe you are a grammar and punctuation junkie (cough, cough, Shelly Kramer), and you wonder why there is no question mark at the end of the sentence. Or you might think, hey, is this a real billboard or graffiti? Or damn, I need to get my phone out fast and take a picture of this one (that would be all you Amytypes out there). I worry that too many people – probably the majority – pay it no mind at all. Which is the whole point of this post.
On this beautiful Sunday morning, on the back nine of the summer (that’s for all my golf peops), I would like you all to ponder what you wish today. Make it a good one. And I would be honored if you would be so kind as to share that wish… because that BS about it not coming true if you share it is old school.
What is a wish if not to share?
Happy Sunday everyone!

This was in the window of a store next to the restaurant we ate at last weekend. I can tell you this is surely not the average window display on Long Island.
I love the name Zombie Industries. Their tagline is Destroy the Undead.
Nice.
You can actually submit your very own zombie kill video on their site. They even have a friggin zombie outbreak map! And bleeding zombie targets!! I suppose you can never be too prepared for the zombie apocalypse. (fyi, I just finished reading Jenny Lawson’s book Let’s Pretend this Never Happened and I am pretty sure she would love to hang this image on her wall).
Do people really buy this crap? Um… Gary does have an abnormal obsession with all things zombie. Note to self: possible father’s day gift in the event that I lose my mind and want to lose the relationship with all my neighbors.
Please discuss.

I found this cup on the beach in Montauk. It’s for those who are pronunciation challenged. Or maybe those who are two drunk to read. Or maybe drunken foreigners.
I simply love it and want a full set of words. Any suggestions?

If you have ever eaten with my husband, you are familiar with his request for Earl Grey tea (with honey) at the end of every meal. Everywhere! Like a Cracker Barrel in Tennessee. Or a cozy little coffee shop, where the operative word would be coffee. Or friends’houses, as if everyone has this on hand.
We saw this book at a rest stop on the Northway, on the way to the Adirondacks. I could not resist buying it after reading the back. Too funny.

I received this as a text from my daughter on Saturday night. You have to love a kid that would send you something like this from the bathroom at a party.
I am not any more stressed then usual these days. And honestly, choking someone is not really my idea of a release. But I do like the homespun, country craft show look of the sign against that sweet calico wallpaper.
I am wondering if the woman of the house does her choking in a Martha Stewart apron.

This is one badass license plate, is it not? And being on a cadillac makes it one step more badass. I love the reflection in the chrome on this shot. A perfect photo moment for me.
I wish I had more time to wait and see who came out and drove away in this baby. But maybe I was better off not seeing him; it could have been disappointing. I know… gender assumption. But seriously, do you know any women who would think of driving around with this plate? I mean, I know some pretty badass women but none of them would have this plate. Mojo? I am thinking it is a guy thing in this context.
Feel free to prove me wrong with an example.

Today I found myself stopped at a red light at the foot of the Freedom Tower. I was caught in the busyness of my day; thinking of the details of the meeting I had just left and planning my strategic navigation back to my home office through construction choked downtown Manhattan.
I looked to the left on the corner of Liberty and West and from that angle the tower soared over my head, reflecting that perfect blue sky on this glorious day.
I could not help but think that this sky was identical to the one the day the towers fell.
It was a Moment, with a capital M.
Never be too busy to stand in awe. Of the horror. Of the resilience. Of the sheer magnitude of both DEstruction and CONstruction.
And let those moments change you, for if they don’t, what is the point of having them.

There is nothing I love more than a visual pun. Unless, of course, you add some music in. Then I am just entertained beyond belief.
This sign wins for my favorite of the year. It was on the door of a lovely little coffee shop in Tarrytown, right next to the Tarrytown Music Hall.
As if this were not the double delight of music and graphics for me, it went right over the top with its name… Coffee Labs Roasters. Check out their logo.
That’s right, THAT kind of Lab. The whole place has a Lab theme. Check out the toilet paper holder.
Of course they support sustainability, are Rainforest Alliance Certified and Bird Friendly (I know, bird friendly Labs sound like a bit of a stretch).
You have to love the tagline: Grown Globally. Roasted Locally. I want to marry this coffee place. Or at least sleep with it!
If you are ever in Tarrytown, check them out. Oh, and their coffee is good too.
