The old uptown FU

Ok, it is really the F and the V, but when you walk past it quickly and maybe squint a little it looks like the FU and it made me laugh.

I also like the bumper sticker ‘I am second’. Correct me if I am wrong but is this something to brag about? Don’t we strive to be first? Me first, first in line, firstborn, first class… you get my drift.

A little digging (or shall I say googling) and I found out that I Am Second is some sort of christian movement. Although the religious piece kind of creeps me out is not my cup of tea, their mission is kind of cool. An inspiring reach out to others sort of thing.

Which seems rather ironic since it was posted at the FU station. (what? Am I the only one that calls it that?)

Bogus Hill

Like This!

Once again, Joyce is bird-dogging great shots for me. My motto: if you can’t get out of the basement, make sure that your friends can. And remind them to carry a camera.

This is half the stone entrance for Bogus Hill. We love this name. What happens up there?

Nothing real, we are certain.

Sit Happens

Like This!

This could be the best company name ever. I saw this on the road today and fell in love.

Dog Training for the Real World. Odd tagline. Is that asopposed to Dog Training for the Virtual World? Whatever, company name trumps tagline any day and it is kind of a cool combination.

File this under ‘I wish I thought of that’.

Shoot The Freak

Nope, you don’t have to worry, I did not have signage installed in front of my house.

This amazing shot was sent by my crazy friend Joyce, who is always thinking of me and sending little tidbits of the absurd from her phone. You may remember the famous ButtPaste post that she inspired. I am thinking of putting her on staff.

I believe this shot was taken in Coney Island. Now there is a big surprise. Live Human Target… doesn’t get much better than that, huh?

I bet you are all happy that I am done with graduation and prom week. Back to the business of the absurd. But wait! Tomorrow is Tuesday…

Discount Sushi?

After a good Time to Cry Tuesday it is always fun to follow it up with a Time to Puke Wednesday.

Buy One Get One Free Sushi?

Um, ew.

I get it. At 5:59 it is still fresh. At 6:00, not so much. And then there is that legal disclaimer up in the right corner of the shot:

Consuming raw or undercooked seafood can increase the risk of food borne illness, especially in the young, the elderly, or those with weakened immune systems.

Yikes, check your guest list before you serve the sushi, kids. Certainly the (almost) day old kind.

Do you want fries with that?

Like This!

I posted this because I simply love this logo and wish I had designed it. Yes, after all these years I still have graphic design envy. Pathetic, I know.

It got me to thinking about one of the HS teachers who told the kids they should study. And if they didn’t they could all repeat after him, “Do you want fries with that?” Sort of obnoxious but I think they got his point.

So, here we are, the final week before my boy graduates that very HS. And yes, you will be subjected to a killer amount of sentimentality this week. So for those of you (Dr. Jimmy, cough, cough) who are not predisposed to enjoying the reflective parenting posts, you may want to just watch The Man Show or something (is that still on?)

Even if he doesn’t study for that last Regents Exam this Tuesday I am pretty sure he will not be destined for a career in a burger joint (or a brgr joint for that matter). So, kiddies, let the games begin. I am officially on the road to letting this one go! (thank goodness his sister is home for the summer).

Back Waxing

While taking this picture on Main Street in my town a couple walked by and he said, “Hey, maybe I should go get my back waxed.”

I must say that $40 seems awfully cheap for a whole back, doesn’t it?

Is there really anything else for me to say about this that I have not already said? Please refer back to this post and this post to hear my opinion of hairy backs.

That should do it. Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend.

New York vs. The World

I took this picture the other night when out with the girls. I kept stopping to take pictures and they kept going. I actually lost sight of them right before this and had to call to find them.

Yeh, I am a ton of fun to go out with.

This window was on a storefront somewhere east of Lafayette and south of Houston (can’t remember what block). I don’t think this was the name of the store, but rather a statement in the window. Anyone living down there, please let me know what this was because when I googled I came up empty.

Anyway, the sentiment struck me.

New York vs. The World.

How much more New Yorker can that be. We do have that center of the universe attitude that I would imagine is annoying to those who don’t live in the center of the universe. I would also imagine that a t-shirt with this emblazoned across the chest probably would not be the best wardrobe item anywhere but here.

Nonetheless, I love it. As I love NY.

Cliche? tough.

Florida Soundbites

Florida: Day 4 and leaving.

I thought I would wrap this one up with some funny things that were said or seen over the weekend. But first I would like to give a big shout out WHAT THE HELL to the two women who just sat behind me in the Jet Blue terminal at PBI. I am an hour early for my flight because I love airports my brother’s flight was earlier and I am literally one of 4 people at the gate. These two blabbermouths had to sit in the seats directly behind me and yack away…

in a foreign language. SERIOUSLY!

Ok, so here are some of the funnier things from the weekend:

My Aunt: My mother told me that she loved my father more after he was dead.

My Cousin: While playing a game with all the grandmothers when they were still with us (this was the generation of my grandmother) in response to body parts that come in pairs my Aunt’s mother (from above) responded, “Penis” This could explain why she stayed with her husband for so many years, even if she loved him more after he was dead.

My Mom: (in response to my dad saying that I had a great sense of humor) Yeh, especially when it comes to poo. (ok, my brother and I discuss bodily functions maybe a little bit more than average siblings).

My Dad: You have to understand all our weather comes from the West. It comes in from the Gulf of Mexico. That means we get used weather.

For a nice little wrap up, here are three of my favorite signs:

1. This billboard sits outside the road leading to my parents’ community. I believe it is placed there just in case all the Northerners of ‘the tribe’ had any questions about His existence.

2. This Derm seems to cover it all. Permanant make-up? WTF? What if you want to change color. Is it like the mood ring material? And would you really trust someone with your skin cancer that does permanent makeup?  Just asking?

3. I will close with the creepy child mannequin and the miracle suit poster, just because this says so much.

In closing, I will quote a dear friend who said this about visiting Florida,  “just remember that you are watching a movie in which you will play the LEADING role some time in the future.”

My answer to that is, “I only pray I will be so lucky.”

Thanks Mom and Dad for a great visit. And Keith, no one makes me laugh quite like you.

Let the Matzoh begin!

What a Difference a G Makes

anus-deluxe

Yep, thinking of going out tonight with the family to try the new Micky D’s Anus Deluxe. You know, because the Anus Minis are just not filling enough. I will refrain from all the other follow-up comments that have run through my twisted little brain as I am listed as a mom blogger in some online communities and really, this is so inappropriate.

Ok, so maybe everyone loves a girl fight, doodyman, and metal dildos are probably not all that maternal either.

Thanks  to Cousin Frankie for sending me this photo. Keep the absurdities coming, folks.
