Iko Iko All Day

Another chapter in the life of  ‘follow that car!’

We were behind Mr. Iko Iko from Connecticut on the way out of the Midtown Tunnel on the Manhattan side. Luckily we stopped at a red light as we made a left towards the FDR.

Both Gary and I felt that this was the license plate we were most jealous of so far. To the point where we considered seeing if it is available in New York.

Of course everyone knows it would be way cooler if it were from Louisiana. But what is the shot it is available there?

Oh, to always have a charged camera. I would have been really cranky if I missed this one.

Talkin’ ’bout, hey now, hey now…

I shlep, therefore I am

A big thank you to Susan who not only went back into a parking lot to get this shot but also came up with that great post title.

Her theories on this:

1. I shlep therefore I am

2. I am an Ivy League Shelper

3. I shlep to pay all this tuition

Here are my thoughts, I shlep from one school to the other getting window decals but all my kids are drop outs. Seriously, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Wharton, Mount Sinai Medical and Harvard Law? In one family? And the parents are driving an old beat up woodie station wagon? What is the shot?

Then again, you never know. I know a couple of families that bred some super kids with these types of credentials. And hey, you have to give them credit for going to motor vehicles with this request.

What ma’am? You want a plate that says I Sheep? No, that is shlep. Shlep? What the hell? Yes, and make sure there is a space between the I and the Shlep.

This is not my first shlep post, if you have been a long time reader you will remember shop shlep repeat.

That makes me ‘what Grammy Hall would call a real jew

Girls, what?

Danny and I were behind this car the other day and could not agree on what it meant.

I think it meant Girls 24/7, perhaps with a pimp driving. Or maybe a Tiger Woods type.

But Danny? He thought it meant Girls 2,4 and 7. As if this was a mom’s car and she had three daughters that were 2, 4 and 7.

Now, does anyone else find it concerning that the mom thinks pimpmobile and the 17-year-old boy thinks mom-mobile?

I will put this out to the crowd. Please vote on this and help end the discussion.

We’re Ok

Oh, how I love a good license plate. This was a tough shot. But thanks to Miss Jana literally hanging out the back seat window, in the rain, I have this perfect shot of a plate I must say I am rather jealous of.

I wonder if their other car has a plate that says ‘NOT OK’ for the days when things are not going so well.

After the big blizzard of 2010, or as the news has called it Snowzilla, Snowmageddon or some such nonsense, I thought this was a nice sentiment. We New Yorkers have nothing to really complain about after what DC/Baltimore/Philly have had to deal with this past week.

Gary is OK after insisting upon driving to work and back. ‘Hey, the drive was fine, there was no one on the road.’ Um, could that be because we are in the MIDDLE OF A DAMN BLIZZARD and most people have the sense to stay off the road?

Mel is OK after a full day of playing in the snow.

Danny is OK after shoveling, how many times was that? Maybe 4, plus digging out our 89 year old neighbor to boot.

And I am OK after 3 rounds of shoveling, cooking one kick-ass stew, baking a few dozen muffins all while banging on the keyboard and still getting a good day’s work done. Oh, and I think I have the new facebook all straightened out.

Yep, we’re OK.

ID Theft

Odd choice of license plates. Had to add this to my photo collection. A big thanks to Sue who took this since my camera battery died. Anyone in PW know whose this care belongs to?

Anyone have suggestions on what this person does for a living? How about a little poll?

A Day of License Plates

Some days I seem to be the Magnet for License Plates (MFLP) instead the MFTA.

I actually saw all of these in one day. Wild!

BBRNOTBB

How Hamlet-esque!

no-fear

I don’t really like to drive near a car with this kind of plate. Especially the ‘Noo’ part.

scaffold

I just don’t get this one. Love of scaffolding? Maybe a corporate car and that’s their biz. Still kind of silly.

XY XYXY

Hmmm. Ok, here is my shot on this one. First they had a boy (XY) then they had twin boys (XYXY).

If you see any good license plates, please send them my way. I am starting to have a really nice collection

Snow Bird…

snow-bird-sex-drive

Snow Bird.

Sex Drive.

Sex Drive.

I believe the missing license plate in that sequence would be:

Cialis*

I found the juxtaposition of these quite funny. Even funnier, the fact that Sex Drive had to be repeated. Was it for reasons of hearing, eyesight or poor memory?

*if you have an erection for more than 4 hours, call your doctor (favorite disclaimer/tagline of all times).

Time to Cry Tuesday – License Plate Wisdom

This is not my usual Time to Cry Tuesday. The end of June was wrought with so many emotions that I am too played out to wrench any hearts this week. Instead I thought I would bring you some license plate zen. I truly believe that these messages show up on the road in front of me to make me think.

Or laugh.

Or not, just humor me here today.

Let’s start with a nice Beatles sentiment. When driving on the expressway it is good to just…

let-it-be

But by all means, never…

b-chicken

Because…

some-will

and some won’t. That is just how life is. Just don’t be a…

show-cat

Because you never know if you are being followed by…

2-nuns

(only in Wisconsin!)
