Ah… Americans!

I snapped this shot at JFK airport. This kid was in full tilt meltdown mode and this mom was so nonchalant I found it hard to believe she had not be lobotomized. Her solution to her kid losing it was to basically hang him by his shirt.

From her finger.

Take a look at this pose. She is looking off in the distance barely paying attention to the little monster. At one point he was suspended in mid-air by his shirt. He continued to scream and rant and she continued ignoring him. A textbook portrait of fine parenting for sure.

But, I do kind of like the way they are dressed alike.

  1. Ha, our youngest’s favorite move is the “I am a blob” drop.

  2. Don’t worry, that kind of parental attitude is not limited to Americans.

Yeah, you would need a friggin’ crane to lift her. Is she wearing designer jeans, sweet! Remember when people actually got dressed up to fly and going to the airport was a magical experience?

you described it well. You put me on hold to grab that shot.

  5. It does seem like they have a closet full of Urban Tshirts, enough for the whole family. Going back to the topic, I think what the mother is doing is similar to dog training. The dog gets used to being ignored at certain times and does not bother you when you’re not calling it. I have no clue as to whether this could be called discipline, but the mother could have had given a bit of attention on whether her child is being strangled or not.
